VINTAGE INSPIRATION
Monday, January 25, 2010 at 2:36PM The last few weeks I’ve been thinking about and defining my brand and in doing that I’ve thought a lot about what inspires me and what my personal style is. Some things that inspire me are: books, magazines, antiques, flowers, architecture, old photos, home decor and fashion. One of my favorite places to go to be inspired is my Grandmother’s house. It is filled with antiques, family heirlooms and lots of pretty things (see the photos below) that I have adored since I was a child. Exploring cities rich in history, taking walks thru beautiful gardens and perusing antique shops are also at the top of my list of places to be inspired.

That brings me to style. While I appreciate all different kinds of styles, vintage has always been my favorite. Soft, romantic vintage sprinkled with fresh modern flair probably best describes my style. I’m nostalgic at heart, I love things associated with the past, things that have special meaning to them. Nothing excites me more than to look through old photos (from before my time) to get a glimpse into the past. While I love seeing the fashion, the architecture, etc. I think the best part is the people, the memories, the history. Our photos are valuable heirlooms that are passed on from generation to generation. Perhaps that’s why I love photography so much. My desire is to capture those memories in a creative and pretty way so they can be remembered forever.
That’s what inspires me. What inspires you?
